MAIN OFFICE SECRETARY

The Golden Door Charter School in Jersey City is a PK-8 public charter school with 700 students and is seeking a Main Office Secretary. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated self-starter with a High School diploma and expertise in secretarial/clerical field with experience in word processing in Word and Excel, knowledge of copy machines, postage meters, PA system, student attendance programs and demonstrates proven skills in interpersonal relations, organization and communication.

Please note that the start date for this position is on or about January 4th, 2021.

Responsibilities are as follows:

  • General Office Duties such as answering phone calls; sorting and delivering mail; making copies; assisting staff, students, parents and visitors, etc.
  • Assisting with filing and maintaining confidential information including but not limited to staff evaluations, human resource files and student records.
  • State Reporting; maintain familiarity and assisting with NJ Smart reports.
  • Arranging classroom coverage where needed.
  • Assisting with supply orders and maintenance of supply closet.
  • Assisting with the coordination of Photo Days.
  • Assisting with lottery including but not limited to entering new students into the student information database during open enrollment periods.
  • Assisting with processing student transfers.
  • Assisting in preparation and maintenance of materials necessary for Board for union negotiations upon request by Chief Academic Officer.
  • Performing any other tasks that may be assigned by the CAO, SBA or Supervisor.

Special Education Teacher

Looking for an enthusiastic, motivated self-starter who is experienced and capable of working with students with disabilities for the 2020-2021 school year. This individual will be responsible for special education program implementation, in-class support and co-teaching for either elementary or middle school grades.

New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate or Teacher of Students with Disabilities. Must be certified and fulfill New Jersey requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher Status.


Instructional Assistant

Looking for a dedicated and creative instructional assistant (i.e. aide/paraprofessional) who is able to assist a lead teacher in a lower elementary setting for the 2020-2021 school year. Other duties include monitoring student arrival/dismissal times as well as lunch/recess duties.  Teachers who are passionate about urban education and have a valid substitute teacher's certificate and at least 60 college credits will be considered. This is a F/T tenure track position at a starting salary in accordance with the school's salary guide.



Long-Term Leave Replacement - Middle School Math Teacher

Golden Door Charter School is looking for a long-term leave replacement knowledgeable and creative teacher able to teach, develop and remediate mathematics concepts in a middle school setting. Certificates for New Jersey Teacher of Mathematics or New Jersey Elementary Teacher with Math Specialization in Grades 5-8 is highly preferred.

Long-Term Leave Replacement - Middle School ELA Teacher

Golden Door Charter School is looking for a long-term leave replacement knowledgeable and creative teacher able to teach, develop and remediate language arts/reading concepts in a middle school setting. New Jersey Teacher of Language Arts/English Certification or New Jersey Standard Certification with a concentration in Language Arts/Reading is preferred; however a CEAS or CE may also be considered.


Foreign Language Teacher - P/T

Golden Door Charter School in Jersey City is looking for a talented Foreign Language teacher who is motivated and a self-starter in any one of the following languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, Hindi, etc. This position includes instruction to middle school students from fifth through the eighth grade. New Jersey Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility in the appropriate language is required. 


Computer Teacher

Golden Door Charter School is looking for a knowledgeable and creative computer teacher with experience using the latest computer technology, technology devices and software systems and has in-depth knowledge in the following areas: Microsoft Office Applications; Google Apps for Education (GAFE) /G Suite; Online Technology; Chromebooks; 21st Century instructional practices; and possess good classroom management skills. New Jersey Standard Elementary Certification or New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility is required with experience in computer instruction.

 

Substitute Teachers (Pre-K-8)

The Golden Door Charter School in Jersey City is seeking substitute teachers at the rate of $100 per day. Our existing sub pool is small so there should be ample opportunity for consistent work.  This is also a great opportunity to showcase your classroom skills for future jobs openings as there is a good chance a position(s) will open up for the upcoming school year.
